Are you one of the more than 400 delegates attending LIBER 2018? Our organising team is here with tips to help you make the most of it!
Network, network, network
Make the most of the wonderfully diverse range of people attending LIBER 2018. They come from libraries around the world, and everyone has an interesting story to tell. Don’t be afraid to ask what they’re working on or why they’re attending the conference. Want to see who’s coming? Check the back of the conference programme for a full list of delegates, or see our LIBER 2018 Twitter list.
Connect with the speakers and LIBER Board members
LIBER is built on a knowledge-sharing philosophy, and that carries through to the conference. We encourage you to ask questions during the sessions, and to approach speakers during the breaks. Have a question about LIBER or a suggestion related to how we operate? Bring it up with a member of our Executive Board or the LIBER Office. If you can’t connect in person, try sending a tweet or connecting on LinkedIn.
Get to know LIBER’s Working Groups
We have nine Working Groups and their activities will be featured at this year’s Knowledge Café. Come along to find out more about their projects and how you can get involved. The Knowledge Café is being held in two parts, starting on Wednesday afternoon (16:15-17:30) with a follow-up on Thursday (13:30-14:15).
Visit the LIBER stand
Members of the LIBER Office will be at the LIBER stand, in the main exhibition area, throughout the conference. Drop by to ask a question, get more information on joining a LIBER Working Group, and to pick up extra copies of our Open Science Roadmap (being released during the conference).
Share your Open Science suggestions
We’ll launch our Open Science Roadmap at the conference: a practical guide for LIBER libraries who want to do more with Open Science. Help us take the Roadmap further by sharing your Open Science experiences at the conference.
In your conference bag are three cards to fill in. Use them to share how your library is enabling Open Science, tips for other libraries and requests for what you need to do even more Open Science work. Pin the cards to the posters near the LIBER desk.
Be a VIP at LIBER 2019
When you share an Open Science card, you can also enter our draw to attend LIBER 2019 in Dublin, Ireland as a VIP. The entry card is in your conference bag and the ballot box is at the LIBER desk. If you win, you’ll be our special guest (free conference registration for LIBER 2019) and will have the opportunity to have lunch with a keynote speaker, among other perks.
Join the Twitter conversation
Tweet your impressions, observations and photos with the hashtag #LIBER2018. Have a question? Make sure you include @libereurope and @liberconference in your Tweet so that we see it.
Talk to LIBER Quarterly about submitting an article
LIBER Quarterly is our peer reviewed, open access journal. Conference presenters are invited to share their papers in the journal. The managing editor, Raf Dekeyser, will be at the LIBER stand throughout the conference so please come to him with your suggestions for publications.
Sign up for videos & presentations
Want to know when all presentations and live stream recordings from LIBER 2018 are online? Sign up here and we’ll email you when everything has been uploaded, or simply check the conference website.
Offer feedback
We can only make future conferences better if you tell us what you liked and didn’t like. In every conference bag you’ll find a survey on a postcard. Please fill it out and return it to the LIBER desk. If you want to receive the online survey after the conference, sign up here. You can also email the LIBER Office with your feedback.
